The Earthouse, Ancient Technology Centre

The ATC is run as a working ancient farmstead and is an authentically seasonal centre where exciting hands-on learning experiences are offered with particular emphasis on ancient crafts.

More than 25 years old, the ATC has recently been awarded the Sandford Award for best education facility and the LABC Best Community Development Award, in the South West region, for the Viking Longhouse.

All activities and buildings are based on archaeological evidence from a range of periods including the Neolithic, Iron Age (Celtic), Roman and Anglo Saxon and Viking eras. Visitors can now see the recently completed full scale replica of a Viking Longhouse.

VOLUNTEERING

We welcome volunteers to work on our building projects and will be looking for volunteers to help with the rebuild of the Iron Age Roundhouse this January and February.  If you are interested and would like to find out more about how you can join our team of volunteers, then please contact the centre on 01725 517618.

The Earthhouse at the ATC is the only purpose-built storytelling space in the country and the massive timber and earth structure can seat up to 250 people in the round… warmed by the fire in the centre pit and illuminated by candlelight and lanterns.  The acoustics are phenomenal and the setting provides the most unique and magical stage for an unforgettable evening.
Doors open at 6:30pm, and performances begin at 7:30pm, unless stated otherwise.  There is an interval during which time refreshments will be served (included in the ticket price).  Tickets available through EDHT on 01202 888992

Wimborne Community Theatre (WCT) is a friendly, co-operative group of East Dorset residents (aged 9 to 90) who research and create performances

for schools and communities in local outdoor sites or buildings.

The innovative performances explore past, present and future stories about a particular community and its environment.

Members are involved in many ways: as actors, singers, musicians and researchers, but also as artists, planners, makers and back-stage crew.

WCT welcomes new members whether you have creative skills to share or have
little or no relevant experience.
